The Maritime Radio course teaches emergency radio procedures, as well as everyday operating techniques to you and your family. The course prepares you for the Radio Operator Certificate (Maritime) with DSC Endorsement. The Certificate is a mandatory requirement for operating a Marine Radio in Canada
In module 1, you will be taught the uses of marine radios, choice of frequencies, operation, phonetic alphabet, procedural words and phrases.
Module 2 covers Digital Selective Calling and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, (DSC/GMDSS). All mariners, including recreational boaters, will want to take advantage of the many features and capabilities of this innovative form “automatic” radio.

Classes start at 7:00 P.M. and finish at 9:30 P.M. Please come early on the first evening to finalize registration and pick-up training material. This course is subject to cancellation if there are insufficient registrations. For further information or assistance with registration please email the Training Officer. |
The Complete Course package (Package #1), includes a Manual, DVD, Course, Exam and Certificate.
If you wish to share the training material with a household member or colleague, or if you already have up-to-date training material, you can save $25.00 and register for the Course & Exam Only, package # 2.
If you have acquired sufficient knowledge, through self-study or employment, you may arrange to write the exam and obtain the certificate, without attending the course or purchasing the training material. Please register for the Exam & Certificate Only, package # 3.
If you already have a Maritime Radio Certificate and only require the DSC Endorsement you only need to write the DSC portion of the Exam.
